Imagine a room filled with adults and children learning and playing together, with small groups gathered around tables where each is engaged in a different art activity. Children lead the way, drawn to whichever craft catches their attention. Food, music and storytelling round out the morning. This is Messy Church — a movement that originated in the U.K. as an effort to connect with people who may not feel comfortable in a typical church service. It is intentionally multi-generational and very informal. It is a growing phenomenon, with over 3,000 programs in churches representing various denominations in 17 countries. WCUMC is offering Messy Church as a Sunday morning alternative once a month at 10:30 am. All are welcome.
