Wednesday “Zoom Room”
Wednesdays at 10:00 am on Zoom
Pastor Laurie makes herself available on Zoom at 10 am on Wednesdays for conversation and prayer with anyone who needs it. Depending on which Wednesday you “drop in,” you may find this to be a small group “check in” or a one-on-one prayer time. Feel free to bring not only your presence and your prayer concerns, but an insight on something you’ve read — for example, a quotation from a devotional or an uplifting news piece. You can also bring a question! If you would like to receive a weekly “nudge” with the Zoom invitation link, along with an inspirational scripture verse, please email pastorlaurieumc@gmail.com. You don’t need to join that mailing list to participate, however, as the church Zoom link is always the same: https://tinyurl.com/wcumc-zoom-link.
Those who are often physically unable to make it to the church building for worship and other activities find this a welcoming space for prayer and support.
Fridays, 10:30 am – noon, sanctuary
This respectful, open-minded discussion group wrestles well with the challenges of reading the Bible in the current day in a warm and supportive environment. We don’t have to agree on everything, yet we are a community of spiritual pilgrims and we learn from each other.
At times we turn to respected Bible scholars for additional insights. Some sessions include video segments, and at times we read a Bible-based book together. Homework is optional, however, and drop-ins are always welcome.
This group often focuses on a particular topic, book, or DVD study over a period of 4-6 weeks at a time, sometimes taking a short break before resuming with a different subject. Newcomers have found this is a good place to make Christian friends.
