“The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole person through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.”
UMW has prayerfully chosen to postpone its annual bazaar until spring of 2022. However, to support a number of local charitable organizations, they have re-imagined the popular Mission Quilt raffle. The drawing will take place after worship on Sunday, November 7.
UMW usually meets the first Saturday of the month during the school year, alternating between mornings at the church and lunchtime at Mary’s Pizza Shack. An annual Bazaar event is the group’s main mission fund raiser of the year.
The group occasionally invites guest speakers who are involved in local non-profit organizations working with vulnerable women and children in our community. Photos here show a visit from Pamela Powers, director for Pathways, a local transitional housing program for women and children. UMW has an ongoing collection for necessities for clients of the shelter.
